News - The Training Gateway on Effective Delivery of CPD in the Workplace
Released on 02/10/2008.
The Royal College of Surgeons welcomed The Training Gateway for the latest of it's staff development workshops on 25th September. The event "Effective Delivery of CPD in the Workplace" examined best practice from private providers along with the university experience and the results of the Higher Level Skills Pathfinder Project - Staff Development.
The Staff Development project, which is now entering its final phases, has looked at methods of delivering work-based CPD and presented a number of case studies; identifying the best practice methods as well as pitfalls for universities to avoid. Dr Stephen Gomez and Karen Croker showcased a delivery platform developed for employees to access bite-sized learning from; Sue Evans from Torfean Council gave the employers perspective; and Dr Sue Williams of the University of Gloucester identified the methods and research results.
The private providers perspective was given by Wilf Marshall, editor-in-chief of "The Working Manager". They have developed a number of web-based learning academies which can be integrated into client's systems for use on-site. Used by a varied number of companies and universities this learning has also become accredited by Salford University.
The event was a great success for The Training Gateway, who were recently nominated for Times Higher Education Award, that particularly noted their university staff training role. A number of delegates commented on the variety of information available from the speakers and a number will follow-up the event with further meetings to develop the CPD within their own institutions.
