The Training Gateway were approached by a Middle Eastern Government Department seeking a fully accredited Masters course in Cyber Security but which also included Disaster Management. The course would be delivered in London featuring modules in both Cyber Security and Disaster Management.

One of our member universities who responded to this unique opportunity was Bournemouth University. The university is a centre of excellence for Cyber Security courses due to its multi million pound Cyber Security Unit (BUCSU), located within the Faculty of Science & Technology which puts Bournemouth at the forefront of cyber security through the fusion of enterprise engagement, research and education.  The university also houses its own Disaster Management Centre, which has developed an international reputation for excellence in the provision of highly inter-active disaster management education, training and consultancy.

The university quickly responded to The Training Gateway with an expression of interest and soon after that the client contacted them for further discussions. As a result a contract was signed for Bournemouth to deliver the program 3 times in a year with a minimum of 15 students for each intake. The contract is automatically renewable after the assessment and the agreement of both parties annually.

The client, Yogesh Gahlawat from the Graduate School of Management said ‘what appealed to us about the bid from Bournemouth University was their dedicated units providing cutting edge technology and disaster management expertise to their students. We are also grateful to The Training Gateway for promoting this opportunity to their members because without their network we would never have known about the world class facilities that Bournemouth can offer to those studying for this qualification.

The project lead at Bournemouth, Dr Christopher Richardson said “this unique Masters course is the result of a successful fusion of two world leading centres of excellence both situated within the university.  We are hugely excited by the potential this course offers to students whose current work, or future anticipated work, requires them to ensure that cyber security strategies are set within a wider national security and disaster management framework.”
