About Us

Department for International Trade

The Training Gateway’s appointment as a Department for International Trade (DIT) Trade Challenge Partner positions us at the forefront of the national drive to assist and encourage training providers, including universities, colleges and private training organisations to export. We are one of seven regional DIT Trade Challenge Partners with a focus on education and the only one to focus exclusively on Higher Education.

In March 2013 DIT announced 99 DIT Trade Challenge Partners. These Partners are drawn from Trade Associations, Accredited Trade Organisations and other membership organisations focused on overseas trade, and represent virtually all sectors and industries of the UK economy.

The Training Gateway also works with DIT on a regional level, with the Yorkshire & Humber office to run educational trade missions overseas. Example missions include; Oman, Abu Dhabi and Qatar in December 2013 and Malaysia & Indonesia in June 2014.

For more information about our work with DIT please contact us: 01904 325147 / info@thetraininggateway.com

What is a Trade Challenge Partner and how does it benefit our members?

As a DIT Trade Challenge Partner the Training Gateway is an approved partner of Department for International Trade, able to provide services on behalf of Department for International Trade and to encourage and support our members in international trade through activities such as overseas trade missions, market briefings and export training.

What other support is available?

DIT offers a huge range of schemes to support businesses to export. We’ve detailed a few below, or you can see the full range of services on their website here.

  • The Selling Online Overseas service helps you choose a suitable online marketplace to sell your products overseas
  • You can search the DIT Events Portal for events, trade fairs, missions, webinars and other content relevant to your sector or overseas markets
  • The Find A Buyer service allows you to promote your products and services to international buyers
  • You can explore and apply for overseas export opportunities, or register to receive tailored business opportunities. The Training Gateway promotes any corporate training opportunities on the opportunities page of this website
  • Trade Advisors are available in your area who can offer expert, first hand advice and support whatever stage of export you are at.  If you’d like our help to put you in touch with your DIT Trade Advisor, please email us at info@thetraininggateway.com
